Substance and Symbol in Alchemy! Sex and Death in Romeo and Juliet! Dilettanti Happy Hour with Special Guest Evan Michelson on Medicinal Opiates! Upcoming Morbid Anatomy Events

http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/1400615
We have many wonderful events coming up at Morbid Anatomy!

This Wednesday, we have A Thief's Guide to Alchemy Part 2 on Alchemy: Substance and Symbol with alchemist Brian Cotnoir (June 10th; tickets and more here) followed the next evening by Capulet Gynecologist, Montague Onanist: Medieval Sex, Renaissance Death, and Romeo and Juliet with writer Lois Leveen (Thursday June 11th; tickets and more here). Finally, this Saturday, we hope to see you a our popular Anthropomorphic Insect Shadowbox Workshop (June 13th; tickets and more here).

We are also delighted to announce some new events: On Thursday, June 25th, we'll open the Morbid Anatomy Library and set up the cocktail bar for the second installment of our new Dilettanti Society Happy Hour Cocktails and Show and Tell presented by Art in the Age with special guest Evan Michelson of TV's Oddities. Michelson will share with us her collection of opiates and opium derivatives from the turn of the 20th century including bottles of laudanum, morphine, heroin and various other pain-killing concoctions. She will reveal their surprising history, and explain the ways in which they helped shape the cultural landscape of the 19th century. Space is extremely limited for this event due to the capacity of the library. You can get tickets and find out more here. You also won't want to miss an illustrated lecture and book signing by David Jaher celebrating the publication of The Witch of Lime Street: Séance, Seduction, and Houdini in the Spirit World on Friday, October 16th; you can find out more and get tickets and here.

ALSO, if you signed up to become a member of the museum but never received your membership email, please contact Brenna Plasden at brenna [at] morbidanatomymuseum [dot] org.
