Häxan in 16mm with Victrola Back by Popular Demand! Devil Themed Dilettanti Club! Four Humours Told Through Cocktails! Upcoming Morbid Anatomy Events

We have a tons of very exciting events to announce this week at Morbid Anatomy!

In date order, we have Mid-Century Stereopanorama with Eric Drysdale: Look and See the 1950s in 3-D! (Thursday, August 13th; more here); a Book Party for a The Zombie of Great Peru, a 17th memoir by murderer, arsonist, libertine, mercenary, galley slave, and man of letters Pierre-Corneille Blessebois translated by Doug Skinner (Thursday, August 20th; more here); Myth, Magic and Michael Jackson: Illustrated Presentation and Michael Jackson Karaoke Birthday Party (Saturday, August 29th; more here); Charles Fort and the Forteans that Followed with Doug Skinner (Thursday, September 10th; more here); Morbidity of Mathematics #2: Mathematical Murder with Michael Carlisle (Tuesday, September 22nd; more here); Down the Hatch: The History and Anatomy of Sword Swallowing: An Illustrated Lecture and sword swallowing demonstration with Ilise S. We also have a few great events happening this week: a Devil-themed Dilettanti Society Happy Hour Presented by Art in the Age: Cocktails and Show and Tell in the Morbid Anatomy Library with Ronni Thomas of The Midnight Archive (Thursday July 9th, 6 pm; Tickets and more here); The Right Mixture: The Theory and History of the Four Humours (as told with cocktails) with Michael Goyette, PhD (Thursday, July 9th; Tickets and more here); Psychedelics and Death: A Brief Introduction. An Illustrated Lecture with Psychotherapist Dr. Neal (Friday July 10th SOLD OUT); Anthropomorphic Mouse Taxidermy Class, One or Two Headed! with Divya Anantharaman (Saturday, July 11th, SOLD OUT); and Chick Taxidermy Class with Divya Anantharaman (Sunday, July 12th, Tickets and more here).

We also hope to see you at our one year anniversary "Festival of Arcane Knowledge" on Saturday, July 18! The event will include a one-day only pop-up exhibition of fabulous 1930s witchcraft photographs by William Mortensen, complements of the Stephen Romano Gallery. It will also feature MC Evan Michelson of TV's Oddities introducing a full day of programming which will include an introduction by our board chair Tracy Hurley Martin along with short talks by Harold Schechter; Dr. Neal Goldsmith; and Douglas Rushkoff; a show and tell with an Egyptian mummy head by Mike Zohn of TV's Oddities; and a taxidermy demonstration by taxidermist in residence Katie Innamorato. Following will by a Devil's Masquerade afterparty and costume contest with prizes, music and cocktails! Full line up and more information can be found here.

There is also still time to enter our special fundraising raffle, where you have a chance to win a trip for two with hotel and airfare included from your home city to the Morbid Anatomy Museum this October for Day of the Dead! Must enter by September 20th, and winner will be announced on September 21; Details can be found here.

The Morbid Anatomy Museum is a non-profit, and depends on donations and memberships to survive. Members also are alerted to events before they are announced to the general public, and will receive early admission to future flea markets.
