Dilettanti Grand Tour! Valley of the Dolls! Psychedelics and Death! Ritual in Scent! Drawing in the Morbid Anatomy Library! And More!

Collection of Tim Mullen
We have many wonderful upcoming events at the Morbid Anatomy Museum!

Tomorrow night--Saturday November 14--the Dilettanti Grand Tour makes its first stop at the private home collection of engineer Tim Mullen. Comprised of Victorian era electric machines and gadgets, Tim's collection is one of the largest and most unique of its kind. Preview it here and join us for the party, sponsored by Hendricks Gin!

Morbid Anatomy board member and lifelong museum devotee Evan Michelson writes about the special niche institutions like ours fill and hopes that you'll keep us in mind for your end of year giving. Your tax-deductible donation will help us continue to provide excellent public programming, underwrite exhibitions, pay our dedicated and extremely hardworking staff, and keep a roof over our heads in 2016. Learn more and contribute by clicking here.

We hope to see you this tonight for a special Valley of the Dolls lecture, performance and party. Artist Tara Mateik presents his ongoing project, There’s No Place, which resurrects and perverts the cultural legacy of L. Frank Baum’s Wizard of Oz, followed by a live restaging of Judy Garland’s notorious screen test for Valley of the Dolls, and culminating in a doll-fueled afterparty featuring DJ Benjamin Haber, resurrecting the spirit of the infamous and sorely-missed collective queer dance party.

Back by overwhelming demand, Dr. Neal Goldsmith reprises his popular Psychedelics and Death lecture (Thursday, December 10th); we welcome you to rifle through the museum's extensive and inspirational collection of heavily illustrated books and artifacts, and to draw or sketch whatever takes your fancy in our new bi-monthly drawing sessions in the Morbid Anatomy Library launching this January (Friday, January 15th and Friday, January 29th); and we'll take an olfactory and artistic tour of ritual spanning Ancient Egyptian and Mayan culture, shamanism, voodoo, magical herbalism and modern witchcraft with perfumer Alexis Karl (Tuesday, January 19th).

Lastly, we're thrilled to announce our new Morbid Anatomy Anthology Deluxe Handmade Slipcased Limited Edition shipping mid to late November, just in time for Christmas! This special collector's edition includes a handmade letterpress booklet containing a toast written and signed by artistic advisor Mark Dion; a DVD of filmmaker in residence Ronni Thomas' film Walter Potter: The Man who Married Kittens along with other Morbid Anatomy Presents shorts; a signed and numbered archival 5 X 7 photo print of the Palermo Catacombs by creative director Joanna Ebenstein, AND a one year membership to the Morbid Anatomy Museum. All for $150. Learn more and order your copy here, and join us for a the book release party Friday, December 11th!

List of events follows. Hope to see you at one or more!
