Enigmatic Found Photo

A found photo of what appears to be a parade organized around a gigantic Japanese baby in a carriage? I stumbled upon this terrifying yet fascinating photograph at the Hartville Flea Market on a trip to Ohio this weekend. Does anyone have any idea about what might be going on here? Or where it might be happening? Click on image to see larger version for more detail; the original quality was pretty poor, as you can see.

i suppose its just some kind of "statue".The face looks really smooth, and how big was his mother? :D

She was not.

During World War II, the Japanese military government encouraged Japanese women to have more babies, I believe that this was a form of propaganda to remind Japanese of their duty to the Emperor.

Looks like a carnival procession to me. Here in germany it is quite common to build big puppets and drive them trough the city in february - the band following seems to be reasonable for this as well.

Are you sure it is a «photograph»? It might be a post card dating back to the beginning of the last century when they sold such funny montages as post cards.

It looks like some sort of a parade, but...

I'm gonna take a stab in the dark and say it's Kim Jong-il (North Korea's leader) either at the time of his birth or a commemoration of his birthday. Only the North Koreans would make something so large and garrish.

Can't be Japanese. The people in the crowd don't look Japanese.

To the previous comment-
It CAN be Japanese, as you can see the girls in the crowd wearing the traditional "sailor's outfit" for school.

I'm of the opinion that it's trick photography, telling by the odd transparent bit on the top of the carriage.

The garlands on the gargantuan baby carriage would suggest that this is a Christmas event.

I saw some ensign or banner that have one near handle and there was close another one too that has one more on the big screen picture. It seems like Switzerland to me. Both men have been holded banner on their back sides.
