"The Spitzner Museum's Wax Woman" Comicbook!

Morbid Anatomy reader Heather Whiteside alerted me to the existence of a comic book called "The Spitzner Museum's Wax Woman," by Francoise Riviere and Andreas Martens. She found out about it in the 2001 "Taboo" Issue of Heavy Metal Magazine.

I just purchased a copy of the magazine, but I am dying to find a copy of the original comic book. If anyone has any leads on where to find one and could point me in the right direction, I would be most grateful. Further, the kind folks at Kikkerland Design have offered to help me on my quest, by donating an Anatomical Eye 3-D Puzzle to any person who can help me acquire a copy.

Image from Voir - La Collection Spitzner, eds. Phillipe Blon and Stephen Bann, 1998; visit the Morbid Anatomy Library to see more images from the book. For more on the Spitzner waxes, check see recent Morbid Anatomy posts Musée de la Médecine and Surrealism and Anatomical Waxes.

I'm afraid I've pretty much reached a dead end on finding a copy of the original comic.
According to information from www.dossier-andreas.net, the work (a six page black and white graphic story) was first published in a French magazine, "A Suivre" #30 ,(publisher: Casterman)1978. It was later published as part of a collected album (book?) of stories by the artist Andreas,"Révélations posthumes", (French publisher Bederama)in 1980.
The Heavy Metal reprint in 2001 is available, but no leads (not even via OCLC WorldCat of worldwide library collections)on the earlier European publications.

Hi Heather

Thanks for all the information. I'll let you know if I find anything out. Also, if you send me your address, I'll have an anatomical eye sent out to you. You can email it to me at joanna@astropop.com.

Thanks again!

Hi, first of all, thanks for your really cool blog...I've got one too but i'm too lazy to update it !

I have some good news. N°30 of A Suivre is really easy to find and very cheap : Check ebay France. You can find the Révélations Posthumes on Amazon France ISBN : 284789666X. Looks like a new edition...

Cheers

Thank you Ant1! Now, my French is so poor that I cannot navigate the French Ebay site. If you (or anyone) can help me through the process, I would be most appreciative! Thanks! And thanks for tracking this down.
