Maria Popova describes these images as being from a 'rare antique anatomical textbook.' Actually these images are from Medicology, or Home Encyclopedia of Health: A Complete Family Guide by Joseph G.Richardson, M.D., et al. The earliest copyright date given in the book is 1903. It's not particularly rare, being easily found on ebay, amazon, google books and others. I published a blog post about this book some time ago, where you can see more pictures (which are not nearly as good as these) and read excerpts from the text.
